Kylian Mbappé and Real Madrid will close the deal soon - Ancelotti

Carlo Ancelotti acknowledged that the Real Madrid team is still getting used to life with Kylian Mbappé, but said he is not worried after the striker failed to failed to score in his first two La Liga games. Mbappé scored his first goal for the club in a 2-0 win over Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup on August 14, but failed to score in Madrid's 1-1 draw with Mallorca or in Sunday's 3-0 win over Real Valladolid.

Two of the goals against Valladolid came after Mbappé was substituted in the 86th minute, including the debut goal for young striker Endrick, who replaced the France international.

"Every year the squad changes, the structure of the team changes, it's completely normal," Ancelotti said at a press conference on Wednesday ahead of Madrid's next LaLiga game against Las Palmas. "Last year we also needed time. At the beginning we won a lot of games in the last minutes. This year we have to adapt the team a little and find the best version."

Rodrigo Goes scored against Mallorca, while Federico Valverde and Brahim Diaz also scored against Valladolid.

"We have a lot of resources," Ancelotti said. "We played three games and scored six goals, even though the team was not in top form. Not scoring goals doesn't happen. It has never happened here before."

Ancelotti added: "Mbappe's last goal was on August 14 (in the Super Cup) and today is August 28." "Two weeks have passed, it's not time to worry. He's not worried, we're not worried. Vinicius (Junior) hasn't scored a goal in the last three games, but he doesn't seem worried."

Some Madrid fans have criticised the attacking team's work rate without the ball in previous La Liga games.

"We need a compact team," Ancelotti said. "The work of the strikers and the defenders is important. If the strikers press and the defense doesn't give in, the team is not compact. If the defense retreats and the strikers don't retreat, the team is not compact. It's not about individual players."

Going into Madrid's away game at Las Palmas, rivals Barcelona sit at the top of La Liga after winning all three of their previous games.
